Whitley N1469 was built to contract 75147/38 by Armstrong Whitworth Ltd, at Baginton and was awaiting collection on 27th December 1939. The aircraft was initially placed into MU store until March 1940 when it was taken on charge by 58 Squadron at Linton on Ouse and coded "GE-H". The first mention of it beng used by 58 Squadron in their orb is on 19th March 1940. It was first used operationally by 58 Squadron on 17th April 1940. It last flew with 58 Squadron operationally on 31st March 1941 when the undercarriage collapsed on landing after an operational flight. The aircraft was then replaced as "GE-H" by Whitley Z6497 in early April 1941. While the date it was transferred out of 58 Squadron is not known it seems likely to have been around the first week in April 1941. It's movement after April 1941 is not confirmed. My guess is it was transferred to No.2 B.A.T.Flight who were still based at Linton on Ouse until 16th April 1941 when they moved to Driffield. No.2 BAT Flight became 1502 B.A.T.Flight in October 1941. As a result of the forced landing on 29th December 1941 Cat.B/FA damage was the damage assessment which probably resulted in a repair at a works factory rather than locally. The aircraft next appears on charge with 19 O.T.U. at Kinloss in 1942. On 3rd January 1943 it crashed into Mannock Hill, Moray. Cat.E2/FA damage was the damage assessment and it was written off.
