Wellington L7893 at Linton on Ouse airfield.
On 4th December 1941 the crew of this 21 Operational Training Flight aircraft were flying a cross country training flight. In poor weather and believing that a rough running engine was about to become a failed engine a landing was eventually made at Linton on Ouse airfield at 15.00hrs. The pilot had had to make several circuits of the airfield to find a suitable runway and on landing without the use of flaps, the aircraft overshot. It crashed through the airfield perimeter hedge.
