Blenheim L1430 was built to contracts 527111/36 & 529181/36 by Bristol at Filton and was awaiting collection in December 1938, it was placed into long
term storage after acceptance and was later taken on charge by 18 Squadron in May 1939 and was based at Upper Heyford. It moved on to 2 SAC based at Andover
towards the start of November 1939 and was later put back into storage on an unknown date before being taken on charge by 608 Squadron probably around
February 1941 as a training aircraft. 608 Squadron were converting to Blenheim MkIV's in March 1941 and it is likely they used the aircraft to convert
crews though never operationally flew Blenheim MkI's. Following this accident at Thornaby it was repaired and was transferred to 2 (c)OTU at Catfoss,
then after another period of MU storage it was passed into the hands of 12 (P)AFU at Grantham some time around 14th March 1942. It was converted to a
ground instructional airframe (3785M) in June 1942 and after this nothing more of the aircraft is known.
