Tiger Moth BB810 at Yeadon airfield.

Believed to have been on 19th July 1941 this 20 E.F.T.S. aircraft was slightly damaged at Yeadon airfield when the pilot made a heavy landing on just one wheel. The unit orb does not mention the incident at all for this date.

This Tiger Moth was built by The De Havilland Aircraft Co. Ltd. at Hatfield and registered on the British Civilian register as G-ADYA on 9th December 1935 to Scottish Aviation Ltd who were based at Prestwick. It was operated by them under the guise of 12 E&RFTS until 3rd September 1939 when this unit was re-designated as 12 EFTS and it remained at Prestwick. On 12th October 1940 it was impressed into the RAF as BB810 but remained with 12 EFTS at Prestwick. On 11th May 1941 it transferred to 20 EFTS based at Yeadon and as a result of this mishap on 19th July 1941 Cat.B/FA damage was recorded, from here it was transported by road to Taylorcraft Ltd. at Rearsby for repair. On 12th September 1941 it was taken on charge by 26 EFTS at Theale. On 9th December 1941 it was transferred to 25 EFTS at Hucknall where it remained until 18th May 1943 when it was flown into long term storage at 33 MU at Lyneham. This storage was only brief as on 18th August 1943 it transferred to the Royal Navy Deposit Account (RNDA) and was flown to 770 Squadron FAA at Crail. Its last known unit was on the Ferry Pool, at Donisbristle in September 1944 and after this nothing more of the aircraft is known.
