Hampden AD904 at Lindholme airfield.

On 14th April 1941 this 44 Squadron was flown from Waddington to Lindholme. At 16.00hrs a landing was made at Lindholme but downwind, the pilot deliberately swung the aircraft to avoid an obstruction and this caused the undercarriage to collapse. Exactly why the flight was made is not yet known other than it was a non-operational nature. The aircraft was a new aircraft having been taken on charge by 44 Squadron on 10th April 1941.

Pilot - Sgt Cecil Stewart Sanderson RAF (754839).
