Hampden AD867 near Hatfield, Lindholme.
On 30th May 1941 this 50 Squadron aircraft was being given an air-test. At 11.20hrs it stalled in a turn and crashed near Hale Hill Farm, between Hatfield and Hatfield
Woodhouse, near Finningley. The two airmen in the aircraft were sadly killed.

Wireless Operator / Air Gunner - Sgt Wilfred Hall RAF (552215), aged 20, of Southport. Buried Birkdale Cemetery, Southport, Lancashire.
John Cunningham was the son of Sir Charles Banks Cunningham CSI and of Lady Cunningham (née Macnish), of Great Bookham.
Hampden AD867 was built to contract B.67577/40 by English Electric Co. Ltd. at Samlesbury. It was allotted to 37 MU on 27th February 1941 and was received by them on 1st March 1941. The aircraft was taken on charge by 50 Squadron at Lindholme on 24th April 1941. As a result of the accident at Hatfield on 30th May 1941 Cat.E2/FA Burnt damage was recorded.
