Hampden AD836 was built to contract B.67577/40 by English Electric Co.Ltd. at Samlesbury and was delivered to 44 MU at Edzell on 26th February 1941. It remained in storage until 20th May 1941 when it was taken on charge by 50 Squadron at Lindholme. As a result of the landing accident on 7th July 1941 Cat.A(c)/FA damage was recorded, four days later it was reported in the S.A.S. at Lindholme, presumably for repair. On 4th December 1941 it was flown to Rollason's Aircraft Services Ltd. at Tollerton airfield and on 23rd December 1941 it was flown to 24 MU at Ternhill for storage. On 4th April 1942 it was flown to 29 MU at High Ercall and then selected for conversion to TB.1 status when it was flown to E.E.C.Ltd. at Samlesbury on 24th April 1942 for this work to be done. On completion of the conversion it was flown to 455 Squadron RAAF at Leuchars on 12th May 1942 but was possibly damaged soon after as it was repaired on site there on 13th June 1942 though no details of what happened are known. On 22nd August 1942 on completion of this repair it returned to 455 Squadron. On 22nd December 1942 the port engine failed on take off from Leuchars and the aircraft crash landed into woodland near Leuchars, the crew of four survived but the aircraft was badly damaged. Cat.E/FA was recorded and the aircraft struck off charge on 31st January 1943 when the paperwork was compiled.
