Unidentified Tiger Moth struck barrage balloon cable, landed Brough airfield.

On 18th November 1941 this 4 EFTS aircraft was being flown on a training flight around the general Brough area when it struck a barrage balloon cable with the starboard wheel. The wheel broke off in the collision and while the pilot was able to fly the aircraft back to his home airfield at Brough on landing the undercarriage and starboard aileron sustained further damage. The unit ORB does not identify the aircraft involved or where the barrage balloon was though I would guess it was in the Hull area.

Pilot - LAC G C Brown RAFVR (1343415).
