Unidentified Tiger Moths at Forest Farm airfield, Scorton.
A brief entry in Catterick's ORB states that on 14th June 1941 Forest Farm was bombed by one Junkers Ju88, three incendiary bombs and one A.P. bomb was dropped. Two Tiger Moths were also machine gunned while on a night flying exercise. The identities of neither aircraft are yet known. Forest Farm was a temporary satellite airfield around two miles east of Scorton and it appears to have been used at least until October 1941 by various units until Scorton airfield was completed.
Both aeroplanes - Unoccupied.
