Hampden X2908 damaged by enemy action, returned to Lindholme airfield.
On the night of 17th / 18th September 1940 the crew of this 50 Squadron aircraft were detailed to bomb barges at Antwerp and took off from Lindholme airfield at 22.58hrs. After they had released their bomb load and were leaving the target area at 01.00hrs intense flak guns opened up on the aircraft and it was badly rocked by the explosions near the aircraft. The crew returned to Lindholme and landed at 03.25hrs where it was found that the aircraft had been slightly damaged by flak.
