Whitley T4237 at Linton on Ouse airfield.
On the night of 17th / 18th November 1940 this 51 Squadron aircraft was used on an operational flight to Lorient, having taken off at 17.45hrs it came into land to land at Linton on Ouse too high and overshot at 03.50hrs. Minor damage to the aircraft resulted.

Whitley T4237 was built to contract 38599/39 by Armstrong Whitworth Ltd, at Baginton, it was awaiting collection on 2nd October 1940 and was taken on charge by 51 Squadron
at Dishforth later the same month. On 18th November 1940 it sustained Cat.M/FA damage as a result of this incident at Linton on Ouse on 18th November 1940, was repaired on site and returned to the unit. It was lost on 23rd June 1941, Cat.W(m) damage recorded, when it was ditched thirty miles off the Yorkshire Coast on return from Wilhelmshaven with one of the five crew
being killed.
