Whitley T4211 at Linton on Ouse airfield.

On 31st December 1940 this 10 Squadron aircraft was struck off charge but any details regarding any damage, over-stressing or flying accident are yet to be learned. This date was the date it was struck off charge so it was probably sat around being assessed and was deemed unrepairable perhaps after being taken away to a repair facility and written off there. It was used operationally by 58 Squadron on 20th / 21st October 1940 and returned early with a faulty port engine. On 24th / 25th October 1940 it returned early from Ops because of a faulty air speed indicator. Pure speculation but they were probably tired of it being unreliable so reduced it to a training aircraft. It was then not used operationally by 58 Squadron during November or December 1940.

Crew - Names unknown.
