Lysander P9062 near Danby Wiske.
During the morning of the 13th September 1940 this 4 Squadron aircraft was being given a test flight over the Vale of Mowbray when the aircraft suffered engine failure. The low height at which the aircraft was being flown left the pilot with little choice of where to make a forced landing. At 11.45hrs the aircraft was badly damaged after overturning following crash landing near Danby Wiske.
