Whitley P4991 at Linton on Ouse airfield.
On the night of 10th / 11th November 1940 the crew of this 58 Squadron aircraft were tasked with flying an operational flight to bomb Ruhland. The aircraft took off from Linton on Ouse airfield at 16.30hrs and bombed what they believed was the target area. The crew landed at Linton on Ouse at 01.40hrs. After landing the aircraft began taxying around the airfield but it ran into an area of soft ground, the aircraft became bogged down and in freeing the aircraft the tail oleo was damaged. The general condition of Linton on Ouse airfield was noted as being poor around this time.
