Anson N9934 at Finningley airfield.
On 17th December 1940 this aircraft was forced to land at Finningley owing to bad visibility, after landing it ran into soft ground, tipped up onto it's nose and was slightly damaged. The aircraft was on the books of No.7 Ferry Pilot Pool, based at Sherburn in Elmet at the time. It was an ATA taxi aircraft used to fly their pilots around the country. The pilot was an RAF pilot but two months later joined the ATA.
Pilot - P/O B Campbell (probably P/O Bruce Campbell RAF). (He joined the ATA in February 1941 (M.260)).
Anson N9934 was built to contract 766119/38 by A.V.Roe & Co. Ltd. at Newton Heath and was awaiting collection in February 1940. After MU storage it was taken on charge by 4 Ferry Pilot Pool at Prestwick not long after the unit formed in September 1940. In November 1940 it was transferred to 2 F.P.P. at Whitchurch then during the same month it was transferred to 7 F.P.P. at Sherburn in Elmet. As a result of the damage sustained at Finningley on 17th December 1940 Cat.M/FA damage resulted and it was repaired on site. The aircraft later appears on charge with 12 Ferry Pool at Cosford which formed in July 1941 but no date for it arriving there is given in the published history. It served with that unit until being struck off charge on 5th July 1944.
