Anson N5206 at Thornaby airfield.

During a blackout on 10th June 1940 a member of ground crew at Thornaby airfield was killed when he was struck by a rotating propeller belonging to a 608 Squadron Anson. He had started the engines on the Anson but had then walked away from it to go to another aircraft and when he turned his back on the aircraft the aircraft moved forward on it's own accord, struck him and then struck a vehicle nearby.
