Blenheim L8512 possibly damaged at Church Fenton airfield.

In April 1940 this aircraft was converted to become an instruction airframe, the aircraft was only two months old at the time and the assumption is that it had been damaged in an accident at Church Fenton during the same month. No further details surrounding these events are known.

Blenheim L8512 was built to contract 551920/37 by Rootes Securities Ltd. at Speke. The published Air Britain records state that it was delivered to 64 Squadron at Church Fenton in February 1940 but this is not correct, it was being used operationally by them in early November 1939 and does not then feature again operationally in the 64 Squadron records. I would suggest that it arrived at 64 Squadron in October 1939 and was converted to ground instructional airframe 1885M in April 1940 but after 64 Squadron had ceased using Blenheims (which happened in the same month).
