Battle L5211 near East Keswick, Wetherby.
On 21st November 1940 this aircraft suffered engine failure in the air, the pilot attempted to force land it, wheels down, in a field near East Keswick but
overshot the selected field and it was damaged when it ran into a hedge. It was repaired on site and was flown out from the field.

Battle L5211 was built to contract 540408/36 by Austin Motors Ltd at Longbridge and delivered to bomber squadron 103 Squadron at Benson on 12th July 1939 and used as part of
the Advanced Air Striking Force. The unit moved to Challerange, France on 2nd September 1939 in readiness for war. For reasons unknown it was flown to 22 MU at Silloth on
25th September 1939 where it remained for the next six months. It was then issued to 110 (Anti-Aircraft Co-operation) Wing at Ringway on 9th April 1940 and issued by them to
6 AACU at Ringway on the same date. It later transferred to 7 AACU at Castle Bromwich on 3rd May 1940 who were on a detachment to Church Fenton begining 110th November 1940.
Following the incident detailed above Cat.M/FA damage was recorded and being repaired on site it was flown out. It remained on charge with 7 AACU until being flown to 32 MU
(Service Repair Depot) at St. Athan on 8th May 1941 and later flown to 47 MU (Packing & Storage Depot) based at Sealand on 22nd June 1941. It was then transferred to the
RCAF on 24th July 1941 and shipped to Canada. Here it was taken on charge by the RCAF on 12th August 1941 at 8 Repair Depot at Winnipeg and issued to 2 Training Command at
Winnipeg on 3rd September 1941 for 3 B&GS at MacDonald. It was declared SR (Surplus to Requirements) on 17th April 1943 and struck off charge on 16th February 1945 for WAC
(War Assets Corporation) with 460 total flying hours.
