Whitley K9046 damaged by flak, returned to Dishforth airfield.
On the night of 17th / 18th May 1940 the crew of this 51 Squadron aircraft were tasked with Ops to Bremen to bomb an ol storage plant but they bombed the secondary target; Delmenhorst airfield. The aircraft sustained flak damage but the pilot was able to return safely to Dishforth and land without further damage at 04.00hrs.
