Wellesley K8525 at Driffield aerodrome.
On 15th September 1938 this 77 Squadron aeroplane came in too high when making a night landing at Driffield aerodrome, it overshot the flarepath and landed but ran out of available space to slow down in after landing. It over ran and collided with Wellesley L2679 that was parked on the grass outside Hanger No.1. Both aeroplanes sustained damage.

Wellesley K8525 was built to contract 435442/35 by Vickers Ltd. at Weybridge and was taken on charge by 77 Squadron at Driffield on 11th November 1937. It sustained minor Cat.M/FA damage at Driffield on 15th September 1938 and was repaired on site that then saw it returned to 77 Squadron use. On 7th June 1939 it was flown to Brooklands Aviation Ltd. at Brookland. On 15th November 1939 it passed to 36 M.U. (Packing Depot) at Sealand then on 22nd November 1939 it was shipped to the Middle East. It served with 47 Squadron at Khartoum, Carthage, Sennar and Gordon's Tree. On 7th February 1941 failed to return from a reconnaissance flight to Adi Ugri Road, two members of the crew were killed and one was made a PoW. Cat.W(m) damage was recorded on the paperwork and it was struck off charge.
