Hawker Audax K8317 at Brough aerodrome.

On Friday, 1st July 1938 the pilot of this aeroplane landed normally at Brough aerodrome but then braked too hard causing it to overturn. The aeroplane was on the books of No.4 Elementary and Reserve Flying Training School who were based at Brough. The damage was not repaired.

Hawker Audax (India) K8317 was built to contract 401786/35 by A.V. Roe and Co.Ltd. at Chadderton and was delivered to No.3 A.S.U. at Sealand on 16th April 1937 where it was stored. On 26th January 1938 it was flown to No.1 A.S.U. at Waddington prior to being taken on charge by No.4 Elementary and Reserve Flying Training School at Brough on 23rd February 1938. As a result of damage sustained near Brough on 22rd March 1938 Cat.M/FA damage was the damage assessment and it was repaired on site. It continued to be used by the training school at Brough until 1st July 1938 when it overturned on landing at Brough. Cat.W/FA damage was the damage assessment and it was struck off charge on 3rd August 1938.
