Hind K6666 at Finningley aerodrome.

On 4th February 1938 this 142 Squadron aeroplane was braked heavily whilst taxying at Finningley aerodrome and tipped onto its nose. Minor damage resulted. 142 Squadron were based at Andover, why it was at Finningley is not clear.

Hind K6666 was built to contract 424397/35 by Hawker Aircraft Ltd and was taken on charge as new by 142 Squadron at Andover on 6th January 1937. On 4th February 1938 it was slightly damaged at Finningley that saw a Cat.M/FA damage assessment and a repair on site reasonably quickly. On 10th March 1938 it was force landed in bad weather and overturned near Swindon, Wiltshire that saw a Cat.R/FA damage assessment. It was dismantled and returned to Andover for repair. Much later on 16th May 1939 it was taken on charge by Station Flight at Andover then was transferred to 613 Squadron at Ringway on 30th June 1939 who moved to Odiham on 2nd October 1939. On 12th January 1940 it passed to 24 M.U. at Ternhill. On 21st July 1940 it went to 47 M.U. at Burtonwood (Packing Depot) and was then transferred to the RNZAF on 5th September 1940 where it was registered as NZ.1529. After this it was assembled at No.1 Aircraft Depot and was taken on charge by B.O.C at Hobsonville. In 1943 it was converted to an instructional airframe Inst 74 by No.2 Technical Training School at Nelson. After this nothing more is known.
