Hawker Hart K4436 at Catfoss aerodrome.

On 9th March 1938 this aeroplane stalled on approach to land at Catfoss aerodrome, a wing dropped and it struck the ground. The aeroplane came to rest having tipped onto its nose. The aeroplane was on charge with No.8 Flying Training School who were based at Montrose but were probably at Catfoss as part of a bombing and gunnery training camp there, or further south and the aeroplane was landing at Catfoss to refuel.

Hawker Hart K4436 was built to contract 322854/34 by Gloster Aircraft Ltd. at Hucclecote and was delivered to No.2 A.S.U. at Cardington on 22nd January 1936. On 21st August 1936 it was taken on charge by No.8 F.T.S. at Montrose. Following damage sustained at or near Catfoss on 9th March 1938 Cat.M/FA damage was the damage assessment and it was repaired on site. On 17th November 1938 it was transferred to No.1 F.T.S. at Netheravon. On 23rd January 1940 it was transferred to No.7 F.T.S. at Peterborough. On 21st February 1941 it was flown to 24 M.U. at Ternhill and by 12th September 1941 conversion to Ground Instructional Airframe 2703M was complete. After this nothing more is known of the airframe.
