Hawker Audax K7319 at Catfoss aerodrome.

On 5th October 1937 this Audax was damaged in a heavy landing at Catfoss aerodrome. The aeroplane was on the books with of No.9 Flying Training School, normally based at Hullavington and they were probably at Catfoss for an annual bombing and gunnery camp using the ranges off the Yorkshire coast at the time of this incident. It was repaired on site and returned to the unit.

Audax K7319 was built to contract 437223/35 by A.V. Roe and Co. Ltd. at Chadderton and was taken on charge by No.9 F.T.S. on 21st July 1936 who were based at Thornaby at the time. On 30th November 1936 it overturned at Thornaby while landing in a strong wind. Cat.M/FA damage was the damage assessment and it was repaired on site. On 9th July 1937 the aeroplane moved with the unit to Hullavington. As a result of a landing accident at Catfoss on 5th October 1937 Cat.M/FA damage was the damage assessment and it was repaired on site. Once repaired it was returned to 9 F.T.S. charge. On 1st May 1940 the undercarriage collapsed in a heavy landing at Newton Down Landing Ground, Cat.W/FA damage was the damage assessment and it was struck off charge on 31st May 1940.
