Demon K4544 at Catterick aerodrome.

On 26th July 1937 this 41 Squadron aeroplane was being flown to practice night landings. During the approach to make one landing at Catterick the pilot realised he was about to undershoot the flare path so applied power and gained a little height. He then reduced power, the aeroplane flattened out at ten feet above the ground but then lost height and landed heavily. The heavy landing damaged the starboard undercarriage leg which then collapsed.

Pilot - Sgt Albert Harris RAF (563510).
