Hawker Hart K4423 in Wentworth Park.
On Friday, 23rd July 1937 this No.9 Flying Training School aeroplane was being flown from Hullavington towards Thornaby but the weather appears to have been poor as the pilot headed north. He managed to reach the Rotherham area but the pilot decided to land. He circled the Wentworth Park area a couple of times, then made a forced landing in Wentworth Park, near Peacock Lodge but unfortunately after landing the aeroplane ran into a low hedge. The fabric on the lower wings became torn. The next day a lorry arrived and it was dismantled and removed by road for repair.
Pilot - F/Sgt R Middleton.
