Hawker Hart K5804 at Thornaby aerodrome.

On 21st May 1936 this No.9 Flying Training School aircraft bounced on landing at Thornaby airfield, the pilot lost control and the aircraft was damaged when it overturned.

Pilot - Name unknown.


Hart K5804 was built by Vickers at Weybridge to contract 410420/35 and was delivered to 9 FTS on 10th March 1936. Following this mishap at Thornaby Cat.R/FA damage was recorded and it was repaired and returned to service but was again damaged in a Cat.R/FA accident on 13th June 1939. Again it was repaired but then transferred to Odiham on 13th September 1940, and then onto the South African Air Force as No.429 for 2 FTS on 22nd October 1940. It was struck off RAF charge on 4th May 1943.
