Heyford K4873 at Finningley aerodrome.
On 21st September 1936 this 7 Squadron was on the approach to land at Finningley airfield when a "Holt" flare attached to one of the wing tips ignited. The pilot became temporarily blinded by the light which resulted in the aeroplane running into the boundary hedge. The flare use was on trial to aid pilots while landing at night.
