Flying Flea G-AEKR at Doncaster.
This small aeroplane was built locally in Doncaster workshops by Mr Jack Ernest Claybourn and Co.Ltd, motor engineers. It was registered as G-AEKR on 26th June 1936. During the afternoon of Saturday, 10th October 1936 it was flown from Doncaster aerodrome, it climbed to around 200 feet but the engine failed. The pilot managed to glide the aeroplane and force land on the racecourse without damage. By mid-1937 Flying Fleas were banned from being flown owing to safety concerns. This one appears to have survived for some decades.
Pilot - Mr Robert Parker, of Manchester.
