Unidentified Hawker Fury at Catfoss aerodrome.
This aeroplane was almost certainly at Catfoss on detachment with the unit it belonged to so that aircrew could attend an armament training camp, that included gunnery training on the ranges off Skipsea. During the morning of 20th August 1936 the Fury took off from Catfoss to undertake a training exercise. It was later seen flying over the East Riding of Yorkshire when part of the undercarriage broke away. The pilot flew to Catfoss aerodrome and made a landing at the side of the airfield, swiitching off the engine just before touching down and bringing it to a stop with the nose touching the ground.
Pilot - Name unknown.
I would welcome information to identify the aeroplane or the unit this belonged to.
