Virginia K2650 at Catfoss aerodrome.

On 31st May 1933 Hawker Horsley S1247 (in the care of No.2 Aircraft Storage Unit, based at Cardington) taxied into Virginia K2650 (of 10 Squadron, based at Boscombe Down) at Catfoss. Both aeroplanes sustained damage. 10 Squadron were undertaking their annual armament and bombing training camp at Catfoss at the time, having arrived on 5th May 1933 and returned to Boscombe Down on 2nd June 1933.

Vickers Virginia K2650 was built to contract 141161/31 by Vickers Ltd, at Weybridge and was delivered to Hawkinge for storage on 28th June 1932. On 3rd November 1932 it was allocated to Western Area for 7 Squadron at Worthy Down but shortly after it was transferred to 10 Squadron at Boscombe Down. As a result of the mishap at Catfoss on 31st May 1933 the damage was assessed as being Cat.M/FA and it was repaired on site. Once repaired it was returned to 10 Squadron use. In October 1934 it was transferred to 502 Squadron at Aldergrove. On an unknown date it was flown to No.2 Aircraft Storage Unit at Cardington and was later struck off charge on 31st July 1936 but was used for spares.
