Gordon K1744 at Catfoss aerodrome.

On 31st July 1932 40 Squadron Gordon K1737 landed at Catfoss aerodrome but then struck 40 Squadron Gordon K1744 that had just landed ahead of it.

Gordon K1744 was built to contract 35535/30 by Fairey Aviation Ltd. at Hayes, Middlesex and was delivered to 40 Squadron at Upper Heyford on 4th May 1931. As a result of the damage sustained at Catfoss on 31st July 1932 Cat.M/FA damage was the assessment, it was repaired on site and was returned to 40 Squadron. On 2nd December 1933 it was transferred to No.2 A.S.U. at Cardington for long term storage. On 8th February 1936 it was taken on charge by A.O.S. at North Coates but was then flown back to store on 7th April 1936 at No.1 A.S.U. at Waddington. On 28th May 1936 it was converted to Ground Instructional Airframe 850M for use at the Electrical & Wireless School at Cranwell. On 14th December 1938 it was transferred to 13 M.U. at Henlow but after this nothing more is known of the airframe.
