Unidentified aeroplane at Norton (Coal Aston) aerodrome.

On the 8th and 9th July 1932 Alan Cobham visited Coal Aston aerodrome, Sheffield as part of the Sheffield "National Aviation Day" where his flying circus displayed aeroplanes and passenger flights were given. On Friday, 8th July 1932 during one passenger flight one of the aeroplanes force landed in an ajoining field to the aerodrome site, possibly down to a problem with the engine. The pilot attempted to take off again but the engine then began to fail on take off so he landed again, unfortunately the aeroplane could not be stopped before it ran into the boundary hedge. The propeller recieved damage. The pilot and what was recorded in the newspaper as being two passengers escaped injury.
