Reynard glider damaged at Baildon Moor.

On Monday, 16th May 1932 the Bradford and County Gliding Club held a flying meeting at their flying site near Dobrudden Farm, on Baildon Moor. During a flight made in the afternoon their Reynard glider sustained damage when the pilot made a banked turn too close to the hillside and it struck the ground. Minor damage resulted and repairs were made within a week. This club later reported to Sailplane magazine that their Reynard was found to have a bend in the starboard wing on 4th June 1932, so much was the bend a problem that the wing covering had to be removed and the damaged wooden sections replaced. It is probably the same Reynard glider as damaged a couple of weeks earlier. The Bradford Gliding club were one of a number of small clubs that existed in the early 1930s across the West Riding of Yorkshire, some later amalgamated when member numbers dwindled after the early surge in interest.
