Zogling glider at Cowlam.

On 26th October 1930 the Driffield and District Gliding Club held a flying meeting at their site on land at Cowlam, during the meeting the wingtip of their Zogling glider struck a tree causing the glider to fall twenty feet and crash into a bush. The king post was damaged. The Zogling was a very basic glider used to give inexperienced pilots an introduction to gliding.

Pilot - Mr Richard Cecil Tice.

The Driffield and District Gliding Club later moved from sites at Cowlam and Cottam to a site near Grits Farm, Thixendale but disbanded in April 1932 due to lack of interest at having to travel such distance.###
