Zogling glider at Cowlam.

On 26th July 1930 the Driffield and District Gliding Club held their second flying meeting at their site on land at Cowlam. During the meeting and during the catapult launch the glider got out of position just before the pilot's second flight so when launched it was seen to have a distinct lean to it. After travelling a few feet in the air the glider banked and crashed heavily into the ground. It was later stated that a bee stung the pilot on the neck just before the launch began. The Zogling was a very basic glider used to give inexperienced pilots an introduction to gliding. It had only arrived the previous weekend, following this incident a new left wing and other parts were required to repair it.

Pilot - Mr J Wresdell, of Millingdale, Lowthorpe.
