On 16th December 1918 this aircraft was coming in to land at Redcar and was flying at around 100 feet off the ground when it stalled during a gliding turn and dived into the ground. The pilot was on a flight with the North East Area Flying Instructor School. He sadly died of his injuries the following day at the Red Barn Hospital in Redcar (a stately home used by the RAF at the time).
