Avro 504 E1736 in the Doncaster area.

On 13th January 1919 the pilot of this No.38 Training Depot Station aeroplane became lost while flying in fog, struck a tree and crashed. Where this incident occurred is not stated on the pilot's casualty file. The unit was based at Tadcaster aerodrome but the incident appears to have not occured there because the pilot's service file states that he was initially admitted to the Arnold Hospital, Doncaster then transferred to the 3rd North General Hospital Sheffield the following day. I would suggest the accident occurred in the general Doncaster area. The crash occurred on the pilot's birthday. He may have been an instructor with No.38 TDS at the time.
