Unidentified Avro 504 at Scarborough.

On Saturday, 3rd July 1920 this aeroplane was being flown over Scarborough by a pilot from the Border Aviation Company who appears to have been trying to locate a landing strip on Oliver's Mount. Owing to thick fog he was not able to find the landing strip but was able to get the aircraft down on the South Bay sands near to the Spa. No damage resulted and the aircraft was probably recovered to the road before the tide came in. At least two Border Aviation Company Avro 504's were used at Scarborough during Summer 1920, which one this incident involved has yet to be determined.
