Unidentified aeroplane at Sherburn in Elmet aerodrome.
The Yorkshire Aeroplane Club made regular newspaper statements regarding their flying activities in the mid to late 1920s. On Tuesday, 27th March 1928 there is a cryptic and brief statement that states this pilot was landing at Sherburn in Elmet but "thought it was Shrove Tuesday" suggesting the wheels collapsed on landing. What aeroplane this was I have no suggestion to make as to its identity.
Pilot - Mr Geoffrey Hill Ambler.
Geoffrey Ambler later joined the RAF and rose to the upper ranks, he retired as AVM, CB, CBE AFC.
