Avro 504 D8279 at Beverley aerodrome.

At 16.30hrs on 29th August 1918 the propeller of this No.72 Training Squadron aeroplane was being swung at Beverley aerodrome to start the engine when the engine back fired. The propeller swung around and struck the fitter starting the engine who sustained an injury to his right knee. It was believed that an earlier heavy landing had caused an electrical problem with the engine starting switch.
