Pilot - Flt Cadet Arthur William Buck RAF. Injured.

Arthur Buck was born 28th October 1899 in Islington, London but his father was living in Herne Bay, Kent when he enlisted for Royal Flying Corps service as a Cadet in October 1917. He transferred to the RAF on 1st April 1918 when it formed and the RFC folded and was posted to No.49 Training Squadron on 24th April 1918. He later briefly trained at No.41 Training Squadron before returning to No.49 Training Squadron. This unit folded and No.47 T.D.S. formed in its place. His service file does not specifically state that he sustained injuries on 14th August 1918 but there is a gap in his service file possibly indicating that he left there just prior to being admitted to No.3 Northern General Hospital, Sheffield on 26th August 1918. He returned to what was the new training unit at Doncaster, No.47 Training Depot Station, in September 1918, then went briefly to No.34 T.D.S. (at Scampton). He received a commission on 1st October 1918 before returning to No.47 T.D.S. on 10th October 1918. He was hospitalised on 18th December 1918 and later placed on the Unemployed List on 1st February 1919.
