Avro 504 B8599 near Redcar.

This is one where information is required. On an unknown date in July 1918 this aeroplane was reported to have crashed in the Redcar area but nothing more is known about the accident or the pilot's full name. It would have been on charge with North East Area Flying Instructor School if the date is correct.

Avro 504 B8599 was built by Parnall & Son Ltd and was delivered to RNAS Redcar by road on 1st December 1917. It was assembled, tested and accepted there on 25th January 1918 where it joined the RNAS Flying School. On 1st April 1918 the RAF was formed and took over the former flying school. It initially became known as the RAF Instructor School before being renamed No.2 School of Special Fighting on 18th May 1918 which inturn became known as the North East Area Flying Instructor School on 1st July 1918. The accident happened whilst it was with this unit and appears to have happened no later then August 1918. It was written off as a result of the accident recorded above albeit with no information known.
