Avro 504b N6148 at Redcar aerodrome.

On 8th September 1917 this RNAS Flying School aeroplane was damaged in an accident at Redcar aerodrome. No precise details are known.

Avro 504 N6148 was built by The Sunbeam Motor Co. Ltd. at Wolverhampton and was delivered to RNAS Redcar by road transport on 8th March 1817. Here it was assembled, tested and accepted on 28th March 1917 with it then joining the Flying School. It suffered two minor accidents at Redcar on 21st May 1917 and on 5th July 1917 that saw repairs on site being made. On 8th September 1917 it suffered a third accident, it was initially deemed as being repairable but there is no record of this being done. When the assessor arrived at Redcar in December 1917 it was surveyed on 7th December 1917 and deleted from stock as "wrecked" on 14th December 1917.
