Avro 504 N5268 was built by the Sunbeam Motor Car Company, at Wolverhampton as a 504b variant but was converted in production to a dual control 504h model. It was delivered to RNAS Killingholme for assembly on 26th January 1917. It was later transferred by air to RNAS Redcar on 23rd June 1917, arrived the following day and entered service with the Flying School. There is no record of the repairs ever being carried out following damage sustained at Redcar on 8th September 1917 however it must have been as it was flown by FSL Eric Bailey on 2nd November 1917. It may have been damaged in another flying accident in the weeks that followed as it was deleted from stock on 26th January 1918.
