Avro 504h N5264 at Redcar aerodrome.

The result of one of N5264's mishaps at Redcar. It appears to have crashed through a fence, possibly on the racecouse.

On 22nd September 1917 this RNAS Flying School aeroplane was damaged at Redcar aerodrome.

Avro 504 N5264 was built by the Sunbeam Motor Car Company at Wolverhampton as a 504b variant but was then converted in production to a dual control 504h. It was delivered to RNAS Killingholme AAP for assembly on 27th December 1916 and later transferred to RNAs Redcar on 9th May 1917 where it served with the Flying School. It suffered damage in an accident at Redcar in July 1917 (detailed on this website) and was repaired and returned to service before suffering the the damage as recorded above in September 1917. Although initially considered for repair the assessor arrived in December 1917 and it was deleted from stock on 5th January 1918.
