Unidentified Maurice Farman S.11 Shorthorn at Bramham Moor.

Very vague details of this incident were given in notes of Captain Amos Allan Denison MC who was instructing at Bramham Moor in the Summer of 1917. They simply stated that in 1917 "Sgt Beaton crashed, insolent, gave up flying" which must have damaged his No.68 Training Squadron Shorthorn.

Pilot - Sgt Beaton RFC.

This pilot was almost certainly Sgt A Beaton. He was training with No.68 Training Squadron between 5th June 1917 and 26th June 1917 when he was posted to No.36 Training Squadron. The incident at Bramham must have taken place between these dates in June 1917. He was later taken off pilot duties and reverted to his original trade. He continued service into 1918 and joined the RAF but was deemed fit for ground duties only.
