Shorthorn B4713 was built by the Aircraft Manufacturing Company for the RFC but was transferred to the RNAS during production. It was delivered to RNAS Redcar by rail on 14th August 1917 and was to serve with the Flying School for a short time. Following the damage at Redcar on 21st September 1917 it was initially believed to have been deemed repairable. This repair was never done by the time the assessors arrived on 7th December 1917 and they deleted it, making it usable as "spares" on 14th December 1917.
