B.E.2a A6316 at Doncaster aerodrome.

At 20.30hrs on 11th July 1917 the pilot of this No.15 Training Squadron, Royal Flying Corps aeroplane made a steeply banked turn close to the ground during a flight over Doncaster aerodrome, he lost control and it dived into the ground. The aeroplane was badly damaged and the pilot sustained concussion and a broken rib.

Pilot - Lt William Arthur de Lannoy Yates Bainbrigge RFC. Injured.


William Bainbrigge was born on 10th August 1886. He was later killed on 2nd April 1919 when Avro 504 H1963 crashed near Winton aerodrome, Bournemouth, Hampshire.
