Maurice Farman S.7 Longhorn 8939 at Redcar aerodrome.

On 21st August 1917 this RNAS Flying School aeroplane is reported to have been damaged at Redcar aerodrome. Precise details are not known.

Pilot - Name unknown.

Longhorn 8939 was built by Brush E.E. Co. Ltd. at Loughborough and was delivered to CSD White City in October 1916 from where it was dispatched to RNAS Cranwell for assembly, testing and acceptance on 9th November 1916. It appears to have been dismantled prior to being transferred to RNAS Redcar on 2nd July 1917 because it travelled there by rail, arriving the next day, 3rd July 1917 to join the Flying School. Damage was sustained on 21st August 1917 and it appears to have sat unrepaired prior to the assessors visit to Redcar in December 1917. Following being surveyed on 7th December 1917 it was described as "wrecked" and was deleted for use as spares on 14th December 1917.
